BARDO
handbags - form, fun and functionality
Vesna Trisovic-a Belgrade born designer launched the Bardo label in 2000, to
create hand-crafted, leather handbags with character. Bardo started
producing one-off pieces for her clients, and has now moved on to selling
and exhibiting at the most prestigious venues for an international market.

At the age of eight, Vesna taught herself to sew on her grandmother's
treadle sewing machine. Frustrated by a lack of materials she stole her
father's jacket to make her very first handbag. Following the jacket-bag
success, she has further developed her philosophy, to create handbags that
defy convention in their multi purpose shapes and forms. Turning traditional
processes on their heads she 'forms' bags in a fluid, tactile process. She
'experiences' the material, playing with form and functionality-at the
hands-on stage, rather than on drawing board. For Bardo the pattern comes
last. |

Bardo is a core member of the fast growing, cutting edge fashion industry
based in the East End of London. The signature technique that Bardo employs,
is a textural pattern that is defined by the shape of the piece.
Vesna studied Fashion Design at London College of Fashion and Middlesex Uni.
She then worked for a variety of avant-garde companies in London such as
Preen and Fake, and freelanced as a designer for London businesses that
specialise in leather.
